DETALIU

Launched at the beginning of spring, the DETALIU box stands for a special edition “quoting” two sweet wines: Pinot Noir 2011 and Chardonnay 2012.

By signing the DETALIU wines, oenologist Veronica Gheorghiu conferred them femininity, primness and subtlety. Each variety is limited to 2539 glass bottles. The labels render paintings made by the visual artist Traian Boldea.

DETALIU was precisely created for the pleasure of tasting and discovering the most complex enigmas of the sweet wine. DETALIU allows us associate the sweet wines not only to dessert delights, but also to aperitif refinement, as a hors d’oeuvre is another traditional moment of the meal.

A glass of DETALIU /DETAIL/ can change one’s life. When we succeed to decode the mystery of the detail, the twinkle concealed to the first glimpse, the delicacy of the hardly presumed textures, we have but to let our imagination roam free and discover a wholly different world.

This is DETALIU: a different wine!

Born out of overripe grapes, the wine presents a shining straw-yellow colour. At olfactory level, aromas suggest an original combination of nuances revealing summer fruits, mango and melon, discreetly rounded off by ripe pears. The taste of this wine proves unusual: though it’s very sweet, it gives sensation of freshness, it simply bears the palm. The wine preserves its youth and grace due to the exquisite gustative balance and harmony created among the residual sugar, acidity and body. The aftertaste reminds the honeycomb just taken out of the hive, dominated by the persistency of the August flowers’ nectar.

Gathered late, the grapes of the Pinot Noir variety offer a savoury sweet wine. The colour, specific to fruit’s full maturation, is intense red with transparent violet tints. Typical medium-intense aromas of comfit black sour-cherries and dates, dominated by sober nuances of tanned leather and basic bread crust. The alcohol confers it a mineral-calcareous tinge. The taste, dense and sweet/liqueur-like/jammy – of dates, plum jam and black coffee – , is well-balanced by a lively acidity with vegetal impulses, able to imprint the aftertaste equilibrium and depth. Wine’s density and aromatic complexity appeals, while the gustative evolution follows an exotic path. The wine enjoys a multiple personality due to the combination between its lively sweet notes and the sober ones, of leather and spice.
